I am reading 13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson. It is about a young girl named Ginny who sets off on an adventure across Europe following instructions from her deceased aunt through letters that she has left Ginny. This book is very modern, it was only published in 2006 and the setting is around this time. That makes the character, Ginny, very relatable. So far, the main characters that I have encountered are Ginny, Richard (her aunt's old roommate), and Keith (her "starving artist" and eventual love interest). Right now, Ginny doesn't really understand what is going on. She is just following her Aunt's letters. I don't know much about her character yet.
I really enjoy this book so far. I think that it is thrilling to think that a girl my age would all of a sudden go to Europe without her family and friends and no connection to the outside world. That is a very brave thing to do and I think that by the end of the book she will learn so much about herself and about what happiness really means.
