Today has been an interesting day. It's an FLVS day for us.
I got to school this morning right on time for morning meeting, and we discussed our day. Then we started FLVS. Unfortunately, this morning my mom decided to go to yoga and take her car, little did I know that I had accidentally left my backpack in her vehicle. So this morning at about 10, I had to go home and get my backpack.
When I got back to school, I did two more assignments and then it was time for lunch and kickball. I skipped out on kickball today to reduce my chances of catching this cold that I feel coming on, and so instead I helped get the rock n' roll academy equipment ready to move. Once everyone got back from kickball (they popped two balls and lost one), we watched Channel One. It talked about the oil spill today, it was pretty interesting.
And then it was time for FLVS again. I submitted a chemistry assignment (my last one, finally... now I have to get ready for the tests) and spent the rest of the afternoon focused on whats going on outside because it looks to me like songwriters are starting to show up! yay!
Now we have to clean and get ready to move all of the music stuff over to our other house, which is where our concert is going to be on Saturday, woo hoo!

Today... the first day of the rest of our lives!
Many firsts happened today...
-we started our new schedule today; three days of PBL, two of FLVS.
-the songwriters HIGHLIGHTS schedule came out!
This morning, we had a very late start. But eventually we got going. With our new schedule we are now doing all PBL all day Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We spent a great deal of the morning socializing, and then we got to work. I wrote a five paragraph essay talking about what I learned and gained from my civil war project with Kylie. Then we had brain break, mine consisted of about five minutes considering how cold it was outside. Then after brain break we all got together and checked out wikipedia pages and wrote about the things that we noticed from them. Then, before we knew it, it was time for lunch.
We had a very quick lunch and after failing at trying to get one of the balls pumped up, we started kickball. Maddie and Ellie are back to play with us this week! Ellie is on my team.
MY TEAM WON! YAY! It was freezing but fun. After kickball, we came back and quickly discussed what standards we are going to be working on. I am in a group with Nathan (he doesn't know yet) and we will be working on World War II, uhhh... yeah.
Then we went to music and played through our setlist. Leah and Nathan were both missing today so I sang Leah's song. It was fun! After music, we came back into school and got our.... dun, dun, dun.... CIVIL WAR PAPER FEEDBACK from Mrs. Sylvia! AHH! It was rough, but hopefully it will turn out well. Then I spent the rest of this afternoon just blogging and hanging around. It was actually an incredibly fun day!!!

What a beautiful day!
Our morning started off with.... dun, dun, dun.... MORNING MEETING! Shocker there, right?
We then started an flvs block, just the usual. But I chose to work on french. I am doing a big project right now for french so it requires a lot of my time. At 10:15 exactly, Hannah and I left school to go to the orthodontist... woo, not.
When we got back, school was in full swing and a possible new student was here visiting. Eventually, it was lunch time and Hannah, Kylie, McKenzie, Mira, and I went to Summer Kitchen. Then it was time for KICKBALL!
MY TEAM WON! YAY! The score was 7 - 4 (I think) and our team was awesome. We did really, really, really well today.
After kickball we came back to school and watched Channel One. After that, we were kind of procrastinating on doing our school work so some of us got in a group and came up with a grocery list for things that we are going to buy at the grocery for school. Once we finished our list (and got an intense motivational speech from Mr. Randy) we started school again. I finished up most of my french project and worked on HOPE. It was a decently successful day!

Hello There!
Today is our second day back at school after winter break. This morning we had our usual morning meeting and started on FLVS. We have this week to finish up our flvs courses, so my days haven't been too interesting. I even skipped brain break today to work on chemistry!
Kickball has been a lot of fun though! Since Taylor and Cale have joined us, we now have five high school boys and six girls. So kickball is really interesting, and especially fun for me because now I don't have to worry as much about having to catch the ball! haha, Cale is on the Dominators team and Taylor is on the Butterflies of Hope team. After our major win yesterday, the Dominators had an unfortunate lose today. But thats okay, tomorrow we will make our comeback!
Today in school, I worked on my french homework for Mrs. Helga, because I have french today! And then I spent the rest of the day on chemistry. It takes me a lot of time to do one, but at least I'm understanding it when I do that.
And now, it's probably time to clean and do our check out! Adios!
--------------------------------------------------------
Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.

Self Direction Rating 3
This last block was not as successful as the other two. I worked on my chemistry assignment and it took a lot more time than I thought it would take. But I am almost finished with it.
I rate myself a 6 out of 10 because I still worked pretty hard on chemistry, but I didn't work consistently.
I was definitely most productive in the first block and at the beginning of the second block. I think that I am most productive at those times because I am a morning person (ha ha!) and I just have a lot more energy in the morning. Towards lunch I start to get hungry and lose focus and then in the afternoon I have a lot of trouble focusing.

For our second block, I think that I was still very productive, though not as productive as before. I worked on chemistry and got through a lesson that I have been stuck on for a very long time. Now I am on the assessment for it.
I think my self direction was 7 out of 10 this block because I did take a small break, even though I skipped brain break today.

Self Direction Rating
I feel that I did pretty well in this block. I created my schedule for the week, did a check in with Mrs. Amy, got a HOPE assignment done, finished my french homework, and started working on a chemistry lesson.
I think that my self direction was 8 out of 10 because I was pretty focused even when a lot of other stuff was going on.

What Does It Mean To Be Self Directed?
To me, being self directed means to know where you are aiming to be. In terms of learning, I feel that by being self directed I will know what direction I need to be going and when I will get there with my classes and ultimately college choices.
Daily Goal: Get at least two assignments done in chemistry.
